County Kildare: Gerrup ow dat!

The Thoroughbred County. County Kildare has more stud farms than any other county in Ireland and its association with the breeding of thoroughbred racehorses is world famous, notably the Irish National Stud, established in 1945. The word Kildare comes from a church built by St. Brigid under an oak tree in the 5th century - 'Cill Dara', meaning 'church of the oak'.
